Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Okyeame Kwame says it is wrong to compare one musician to another.

According to him, acts have different talents, styles, fanbases, and as such should not be compared.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Badwam, Okyeame Kwame explained that competition in the music industry is necessary to boost artist recognition and make the industry exciting; however, that cannot be used as a criterion to compare one act to another.

He explained, "Music is now like a product, and everyone has their audience, fanbase, and the like. This, to me, is sometimes good for visibility, positioning, history, and historic purposes, so it's not bad. I mean, Graphic Showbiz can decide that, according to them, they are organizing an award scheme to recognize the achievements of rappers, singers, and others, and that is not a negative thing."

He added that such rankings do not necessarily decide who is greater or better and should not be the basis of comparison for artists.

"If you look at comparison from an artistic perspective, you cannot compare a rose flower to a bougainvillea flower. Although they are both flowers, they have different purposes, they have different looks. In the same light, you cannot compare one musician to another, and that is why we don't compare acts; they are all different."
