Popular Ghanaian gospel musician, Philipa Baafi is not happy about the level of creativity that some of her colleagues put in their works.
Speaking in an interview with Felix Agyei (Mr. Lattus) on J. Life FM’s Entertainment Chart Show, the ‘Jesus Sweet Me Koolem’ singer said they need to work hard and be more creative.
“People do not create nowadays. The creativity in the industry is going down. If we are creative, the up and coming ones will follow our steps. It is a creative industry and we need to be more creative. Refurbishing old songs is not the best. Let s go back to our root, work hard and be creative enough.
“We have so many tunes in Ghana that we can enrich it,” she stated.
However, Philipa believes all hope is not lost because the Ghanaian gospel industry has a great future.
She lamented that the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GAMRO) have not lived up expectation.
“GHAMRO can do more than what they are doing now. If you compare GHAMRO to other organizations elsewhere you will see that we lagging behind. Given Ghc 600 to a popular musician for a whole year is very bad…and that is one of the factors that the industry is dying,” she postulated.
Philipa Baafi asserted that secular musicians promote their works more than that of gospel musicians in Ghana.
