The manager of the self-proclaimed Guinness World Record holder, Chef Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith, addressed concerns regarding their arrest by the police on the night of July 2, 2024.

According to Benny Benjamine, he and Chef Smith were arrested without any criminal charges by the police.

The arrest came amidst celebrations as Chef Smith reportedly set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, clocking in at an impressive 802 hours and 25 minutes.

However, the joy was short-lived as they were detained shortly after the announcement, raising questions about the reasons behind the arrest.

In an earlier interview, Benny Benjamine claimed that Nana Borro, a musician, had instigated the arrest on allegations of fraud.

Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM on July 3, 2024, Benny questioned why they were detained without any charges and suggested that any misunderstandings should have been resolved civilly.

“There's no charge, to the best of our knowledge. Why did you detain us in the first place? Because they admitted that we had not committed any crime, if there is any misunderstanding, it should be a civil case that we can meet and talk about,” he said.

Benny stated that his focus remains on the positive news of Chef Smith's 'achievement', rather than the details of the detention.

“If you ask me, my focus here is the good news that Millennium Chef Smith is a new record holder and all that. I'm focused on that, not these things,” he said.
