Anita Afriyie
The brouhaha over tele-communication network, MTN and Ghanaian music star, Anita Afriyie has still not gone to sleep as the latter’s manager has publicly stated that they are ready to meet the former in court.
According to the manager cum the husband of Anita, Dan Kay, who was in an interview with DJ Premiere on Entertainment Capital over the weekend, he said the case still holds and that they are preparing to meet MTN in the court because MTN lied to the general public about the contract terms.
“When MTN replied my lawyer, they stated in the reply that there’s one Nana who signed the contract on behalf of Anita Afriyie as the manager. But you know that my name is not Nana. As a big company like MTN, if someone comes to tell you he’s Nana and that he’s Anita’s manager so you went ahead to sign a contract with him, I don’t understand. Nana is not a name. It’s a title. Is it Nana Akwasi, Nana Kwame, or Nana Kofi? MTN company is not telling us the truth. It’s a lie. They also said I should go and register with one of their contract providers and come for our remaining contract’s money. Meanwhile, I have not signed any contract with anybody. So from next week, we will meet them in court.
The management of Anita Afriyie has been in legal battle with Africa’s most widely used telecommunication network, MTN over the use of Anita’s songs for their business without their consent.
MTN has since released a statement to the management of Anita saying one person known as Nana landed the contract deal with them as the manager of Anita Afriyie.
Dan Kay, who is the husband of Anita and doubles as the manager said he is not Nana and does not know anyone called Nana and that he as the manager has not signed any contract with anybody at MTN.
