It was her first time travelling on a plane and she had so many expectations and plans including a pre-Christmas shopping and a tour of some interesting places she’s heard of. In fact, it was a dream come true seeing herself onboard a plane to the city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene – Dubai.

In her last interview with Atinka TV – a television station operated by Atinka Media Village, organisers of the Di Asa dance reality TV show, - Precious Mensah, winner of the 2019 edition of the contest had high anticipations. She just couldn’t wait to fly although the mention of ‘turbulence’ seemed to have sent shivers through her spine.

“I’ve heard of the tallest building and an exceptional fountain. I want to see and learn about them. I also want to go and study the culture of Dubai and a host of others,” an elated Precious Mensah, popularly known as PM said.

But it does appear her elation was truncated as reports suggest she was kicked off Emirates Airlines’ plane to Dubai because of her size.

PM alongside two runner-ups, Maafia and Gaza had a package of making a sponsored trip to Dubai as part of the prize for emerging as winners of the 2019 contest but she “was disallowed to be onboard all because her body size was bigger than a single seat in Emirates Airlines’ flight,”, a report by ghanacelebrities.com said.

The biggest among the 47 contestants won the hearts of many after a gruelling four rounds of different genre of dances at the grand finale held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Fantasy Dome. For being the ultimate winner, she walked home with a brand-new saloon car, while the first runner-up received ‘Abossey Okai Macho’, with the third claiming ‘Aboboyaa’.

PM’s award was presented to her by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Cynthia Morrison and the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Barbara Oteng-Gyasi. Aside receiving a cash prize of GHC2,500, PM received $500 from the two ministers for shopping when she travels to Dubai as part of the winning package.
