Maradona Adjei Yeboah, also known as Guru is back in the UG SRC race
Ghanaian rapper Guru, who is currently campaigning for the SRC presidential position at the University of Ghana, has shared his thoughts after being reinstated to the race following his disqualification.
In a brief video shared by TV3 on X, the SRC presidential aspirant expressed his happiness over the new ruling.
He stated that he had anticipated his reinstatement and was not fazed by the initial disqualification.
“I was expecting it because looking at the constitution and whatever is stated in the constitution, we have a case. If it’s like we do not have the case, there won’t be any reason for even vying for the position. It’s all love,” he said.
Guru bemoaned the challenges the University of Ghana students are faced with and mentioned that he was vying for that position to advocate for stakeholders to come to the unbearable situation of these students.
“What we are doing is to help the University of Ghana body and the students. We have come a long way, and it’s the most moment for us. This is the moment they’ve all been waiting for.
“We will urge all University of Ghana students back home; all we are doing here is to reach stakeholders involved to be able to come in to support us because we are really suffering. Do not look at Guru as an artiste but trust me, the challenges here on campus are unbearable,” he added.
On August 16, 2024, the Ghanaian rapper was disqualified from the University of Ghana’s SRC presidential race.
In a letter issued on the said date, the rapper and his vice were disqualified over their non-residence status in accordance with Article (30) (1) (a) of the UGSRC Constitution.
