'What can come can come' stage play to be premiered

A play christened: "What Can Come Can Come," would be premiered at the National Theatre in Accra on May 22 and May 23.

The hilarious and educative stage play amidst the rhetoric's of "Yen tie Obiaa" and "Dead Goat", seeks to exemplify how such words play a role in the Ghanaian culture, as well as family settings.

The theme of the play is centred on pride, its negatives and positives and is written by Globe Productions in partnership with the National Theatre, Graphic Showbiz and Citi FM.

The play is sponsored by Carnival Strawberry and supported by Lenon, Eco Spa and Blue Skies

A statement issued by Mr Latif Abubakar, Writer and Producer of the play and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said Frank, the poor unemployed graduate grew up not knowing who his father was and anytime he asked about his father, his mother said, "Your father is dead, not exactly dead but dead".

"Now an adult, Frank meets and falls in love with the daughter of Mr Arthur, a man whose "Yentie Obiaa" attitude led to an early retirement and a drain on his family's finances yet, Mr Arthur doesn't mind his kind: an egoistic proud man, if rich, to date his daughter rather than poor Frank," he explained.

The Producer said: Does Efua give in to the rich man and her dad's pressure? How does the story of Frank's father being "Dead not exactly dead but dead," unfolds?

The play features known actors and actresses like Ekow Smith Asante, 2013 Ghana Most Beautiful winner, Poka and some rising comedians like Clement Ashitey, known as Sarkodie and Prince Amoabeng, as General Ntatia.
