A legal expert, Yudah Brown has stated that it is unlawful for photographers to stop working because they were not provided with food.
According to him, while it is common courtesy to offer refreshments to service providers at events, the law does not mandate that photographers be given food as part of their contracts.
In an post on Thelawgh, he said "Once the agreement between the photographer and the client is settled, the photographer must fulfil their part of the contract.
"The photographer's role is to provide the agreed-upon services, which typically involve capturing moments during the event. Unless explicitly stated in the contract, the provision of food is not a legal requirement," he said.
This clarification comes in response to recent reports of photographers halting their services mid-event due to the lack of food provided by their hosts.
However, legal professionals have emphasized that this behavior is not legally justified and could result in legal consequences.
"If a photographer decides to leave an event for this reason, the client has the right to find an alternative and may also have grounds to sue the photographer for breach of contract," the expert added.
