If you’ve been anywhere on social media, you may have heard of the ‘Wedding of the Year’; the most expensive wedding between Anant Ambani (the son of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani) and his wife Radhika Merchant.
The wedding, which took place over seven months, climaxed with an extravagant 3-day celebration in Mumbai, India and hosted various celebrities from around the world.
Here are some facts about Mukesh Ambani, the man who is said to have sponsored the entire wedding.
1. Position:
Mukesh Ambani is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries which deals in oil and gas, telecom, financial and retail services, etc
The company was founded in 1966 by Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh’s father. Mukesh took over after his father died in 2002, and split the empire with his brother Anil
The 67-year-old currently manages the company with his three children; Akash, Jio and Anant.
2. Education:
Mushesh has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Mumbai but is a Stanford University dropout.
3. Net Worth:
According to Forbes, Mukesh is worth $122.1B (as of 7/16/24), he is also the richest man in India and the 11th richest in the world today.
4. Not the first mega-wedding:
In December 2018, Ambani's U.S.-educated daughter Isha's marriage to fellow billionaire Ajay Piramal's son drew more than 10,000 guests, including Hillary Clinton.
