BeccaSinger Becca was overcome with emotion and could not hold back the tears when she attempted to say a few words after being presented with the Record of the Year award at the 9th MTN Ghana Music Awards 2008 main event at the National Theatre on April 25.

“She’s a very emotional person,” her manager, Kiki Banson, told The Mirror. “She cries very easily and I wasn’t surprised to see the tears flow out of joy for coming away with an award.”

The award, incidentally, was presented to Becca by British R&B artiste Keisha White who was in Ghana at Becca’s invitation.

The pair have recorded a single, sales of which would go to charity. Keisha has since left for home but is expected back in Ghana soon to film a video with Becca to promote the single.

According to Banson, the song would be available only as a ringtone for six months after its release. It would then be put out on CDs for world release by Warner Records.

“The young ladies will later embark on a concert tour of eighteen universities in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, the United States and Europe to raise more funds for charity,” Banson said. “The tour, called ‘The Rescue Tour’ is expected to take off from Ghana in August.”

Becca raised over $100,000 for charity when she launched her Sugar album at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra last November.
