'He told me he would outlive his late mother by a few years' – Ateaa Tina on Daddy Lumba's demise
“I didn’t write any of the songs. He would just select the parts and say, ‘you do this section.’ I only sang. He is a lyrical bank, he has lots of lyrics,” she said.
She explained that the partnership eventually ended when her personal life took a new turn after she met her husband during one of her visits to Ghana.
“That last time I came to Ghana, that’s when I met my husband,” she recalled.
Ateaa Tina said after getting married and welcoming her first child, it became difficult to juggle family responsibilities with the demands of the music industry.
“The industry and family, it’s hectic. That’s what caused the break. Basically, family,” she stated.
Through her close collaboration with Daddy Lumba on several albums, Ateaa Tina played an important role in Ghana’s Highlife scene.
Her vocals featured on many fan-favourite songs, and their partnership helped shape a sound that remains cherished by listeners.
