Why Gyakie pulled out of KNUST SRC Week

Ghanaian songstress Jackline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, pulled out of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) SRC Week celebrations.

In a post shared on X, Gyakie, who was scheduled to perform at the Hall Week event on Saturday, July 25, 2026, announced that she would no longer be performing.

Although the singer did not disclose the exact reason for her withdrawal, her statement suggested dissatisfaction with how the matter had been handled by the organisers.

She, however, expressed hope that the KNUST SRC leadership would recognise the value of her work and do the right thing.

“Unfortunately, I’m not performing tonight. Hopefully, KNUST SRC acknowledges the hard work and gets things done the right way,” she wrote.

Following Gyakie’s announcement, some netizens took to social media to speculate that the singer pulled out after the SRC allegedly failed to meet her payment expectations.

According to the claims circulating online, the KNUST SRC leadership expected the artiste to perform without offering her any payment.
