Ghanaian afro-dancehall musician, Stonebwoy, has expressed his utmost joy after returning to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards following the lifting of his ban several years ago.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye, he emphasized his deep connection to the awards, stating, “If I don’t feel happy, motivated, concerned, and involved about the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, then it means I’m not a Ghanaian or I don’t want its progress.”

Stonebwoy emphasized the significance of the awards to the Ghanaian music community, asserting, “This is our own thing. Ghana Music Awards belong to us unless you are not a Ghanaian or you harbor ill feelings towards the country.”

Reflecting on the incident that led to his ban alongside Shatta Wale in 2019, Stonebwoy acknowledged his mistake and subsequent apology that facilitated his reinstatement into the scheme.

He further elaborated on the role of musicians in uplifting Ghana’s reputation and contributing to employment opportunities, stating, “Our endeavors in the field of music are geared towards elevating Ghana's name and bringing honor to the country, thereby aiding Ghanaians in gaining employment.”

Acknowledging the efforts of the organizers in putting together the prestigious event, Stonebwoy stressed the importance of supporting it, even if one cannot directly contribute.

He concluded by affirming his unwavering commitment to representing Ghana on the global stage and encouraged others to actively participate in events that promote the country's cultural heritage and artistic talent.
