Veteran Ghanaian comic actor Kingsley Kojo Kyeremateng, popularly known as Ajos, has claimed that being a popular figure, especially in Ghana can be problematic to the individual.

He disclosed this in an interview on TV3 where he revealed that fame can attract all kinds of people to one’s life, including people with ulterior motives.

"Being popular can be problematic. It's not really good. You end up attracting different kinds of people to you. People who want money from you, people who want to use you to be popular themselves, people who hate you.

"You can't do anything for yourself, everything you do is all for public consumption. It's like you are there for the masses," he lamented," Ajos explained.

He recounted a harrowing incident thirty years ago at Accra, where he found himself in an uncomfortable situation due to his fame.

“I had gone to Accra UTC on an errand. There I felt the urgent need to visit the toilet. As soon as I got out of the car, someone came up to greet me and started asking me questions. Meanwhile, I was struggling to hold it in.

“There was no public toilet around. But I couldn't look around because there were a lot of people in the vicinity all looking at me and trying to talk to me.

“So I had to do it inside my car, in the front seat and drive home. So being popular can be disadvantageous most times,” he narrated.
