Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro has taken a swipe at local TV stations over their high patronage of foreign telenovelas instead of local TV series and movies.
She expressed passionate grief about the upsurge of these Mexican and Indian telenovelas, adding that they all trend on same story line.
The renowned actress who was irritated asked why people of Black decent, always look down upon themselves but place importance on foreign stuff.
“Am so happy that people are talking about it finally. What stories are these Mexican, Indian telenovelas telling that we haven’t told already and retold over and over again.
“Is it a poor girl meets a rich man story?, Big deal, we have done it over and over. I guess what they say is true; Africans believe everything black is substandard,” Yvonne Okoro posted on her Instagram page.
Many stakeholders in the movie industry have slammed television stations in Ghana for promoting foreign content than the local ones.
