Popular radio presenter with Kumasi-based Sompa FM, Genevieve Abrefa Yeboah, aka Oheneni Adazoa, has disclosed why she failed to complete senior high school.
Speaking in an interview on the Delay show, the experienced broadcaster revealed that she quit school at form 2 because she was obsessed with travelling abroad, as her parents had done at the time.
"I went to Oda Anglican JHS and then continued to the St. Francis Technical School at Oda, but I didn't complete. I quit school at Form 2 because I was bent on travelling outside of the country.
"At the time, as a young girl, I was so obsessed with wanting to travel abroad; I was always having fun with my friends, and so I couldn't focus on my studies, so I quit school. After I stopped, I went to learn how to plait hair for one year in readiness to travel abroad," the popular presenter said.
She said after securing the visa through a middleman, her mother paid for the visa fee, following which she travelled to London in 2001.
"I went to London, where I landed a cleaning job while perching with a friend. After some time, I left my friend's house, and I rented a place for myself."
Oheneni Adazoa continued that she decided to relocate to Ghana in 2005 due to the stress she was experiencing having to work in London without her own legal documents.
