Accra, Dec. 8, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor, on Monday received an "unusual" welcome at the Kotoka International Airport on his return from Abuja, Nigeria as today is his birthday.
He was greeted with a large banner held by three young ladies at the entrance of the VVIP Lounge with an inscription, "Happy Birthday Mr President" with cheers from officials, who were around to the surprise of the President.
Just as he climbed the last flight of stairs leading to the entrance of the VVIP lounge the Winneba Youth Choir greeted him with the song "Happy Birthday To You".
The choir also sang ''Aseda ye wode,'' the ''Haleluya Chorus'' and ''Yen Ara Assasene,'' as the President nodded his head and moved his body in harmony with the rhythm of the songs.
The other dignitaries also joined in the singing.
The President later thanked the choir and reminded them that he was once a patron of the choir.
Later on, Mr Kwebena Agyepong, Presidential Spokesperson read a birthday message from President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
