Accra, Oct. 8, GNA - The Osu Magistrate's Court on Wednesday slapped a fine of three million cedis on Alice Amiyona, Bar Attendant, for intentionally and unlawfully causing harm to Ms Charity Dzapka of the Environmental Unit of Kpeshie Sub-Metropolitan Assembly. Amiyona pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Court, presided over by Nana Donkor, ordered that two million cedis of the fine if paid should be given to Ms Dzapka as compensation.

The evidence before Court was that on September 24, three Environmental Health Officers of AMA including Ms Dzakpa went out for routine inspection of the Kpeshie Area.

When they got to a bar at the Lante George Area and asked Amiyona to produce her operating licence and medical certificate she could not. She was, therefore, asked to produce them the next day, but she picked up a quarrel with Ms Dzapka that resulted in a scuffle, during which she bit her forefinger.

Passing sentence, Nana Donkor said the fine should serve as a deterrent to those, who would like to obstruct public officer from performing their duties.
