Wamfie (B/A), May 12, GNA - Drama unfolded at a district court at Wamfie in the Dormaa East District when a woman stormed the court room and hurled insults and curses at a young man standing trial on charges of stealing and assault.

"Thief! Thief!! God will punish you!! You Lazy man!!" the woman shouted at Usumani Abubakar who just looked at her and to the bewilderment of the court officials. When the court officials calmed the aggrieved woman down she narrated that Abubakar had stolen two kegs of the local gin (Akpeteshie) from her room.

She said she had been searching for him when she heard he had been put before the court.

The court presided by Mr. Kaakyire Atta-Owusu allowed Abubakar to react to the woman's allegation to which he admitted and said he had sold the drink and spent the proceeds. About the case for which he was in the dock, Chief Inspector A.A. Duodu said in April Abubakar attacked a trader, assaulted him and took GHC 10 from him.

He said the accused bolted but was traced and arrested by the police at Wamfie. Abubakar pleaded guilty to both crimes and the court sentenced him to a fine of GHC 290 or in default 24 months in jail. 12 May 09
