Nana Yaa Nyarko, the main suspect in Wyllbee's murder case, failed to show up in court due to claims that she has taken ill.
The young lady, currently facing trial alongside one other suspect, was scheduled for August 13, 2024, at the Akropong Circuit Court.
However, the prosecution told the court that Nana Yaa had taken ill, hence her absence.
According to further reports, Nana Yaa wasn't in court because she was being protected from the irate crowd that besieged the premises, waiting for her to show up.
Upon hearing that she wasn't in court, the crowd swamped a police station, where she was temporarily kept waiting to be sent to her remand station.
In a viral video spotted online, it took several efforts and much caution for the police to finally get Nana Yaa out of the police station and into the van for transportation to her base.
The angry mob still swamped the vehicle and almost attacked her in the process.
Meanwhile, the Akropong Circuit Court has adjourned the case to August 27, 2024.
Nana Yaa will be sent to the Adum High Court on August 15, where her lawyers are currently seeking bail.
Background:
Reports indicated that Wyllbee was killed in Abuakwa-Tanoso, Ashanti Region, while staying overnight at Nana Yaa Nyarko’s residence, a property reportedly owned by her 'abroad-based' husband’s family, who were unaware of Wyllbee’s presence.
According to initial accounts, on July 5, 2024, Wyllbee was seen urinating in the compound and was confronted by residents who suspected him of theft.
Wyllbee allegedly claimed he was visiting Nana Yaa, but she purportedly denied knowing him to protect her marriage from her in-laws.
This denial led to suspicion and accusations of theft among the neighbors, culminating in Wyllbee being lynched. Reports also mention that Wyllbee's phone was destroyed with a stone during the incident.
