One of the world’s best-known singing reality TV shows, The X Factor, has come to Africa for the first time and in Ghana, courtesy Glo Mobile Ghana.
The show was unveiled last Thursday night, April 18 at the Aphrodisiac Night Club, Accra. The ultimate winner of the spectacular show will take home $150,000.
The winner will also win a recording contract with Sony Music to produce an album and enjoy professional management services.
According to the company’s Head of Business, Mr. Patrick Awotwi, “Glo is proud to be the catalyst that brought about this development and the attendant excitement it will generate across the continent.
Africa has been yearning for a programme of this optimum quality and we are privileged to have made it possible.”
He added that Glo needed to do something special to celebrate its first anniversary in Ghana, hence the gift of The X Factor to delight its teeming subscribers and the general public.
“This year marks the first anniversary of our operations in Ghana and this programme is one of our modest ways of thanking our subscribers for their loyalty and patronage,” he said.
The X Factor is produced and distributed worldwide by Fremantle Media.
Speaking about the show’s upcoming debut in Ghana, Jamie Lynn of Fremantle Media said: “The X Factor is one of the leading entertainment shows of this generation and we’re absolutely delighted to be working with Glo to bring the show to Ghana.”
