“Obia Wone Master”, the recent KC Beats produced Yaa Pono joint which also features dancehall singer, Stonebwy (Livingstone Satekla), now has a video.
Directed by Lex McCarthy for Uptown Energy Music, the record is deemed an especially timely offering, considering the country’s current political climate, which has many “big men” in difficult situations as their alleged corrupt acts have come back to haunt them as a result of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ recent Number 12 exposé.
“Obia Wone Master” translates as “everyone has their lord” — a note of caution to whom it may concern, that every day s for the thief, but soon comes the day of reckoning.
Author of multiple hits and the Faster than Gods album (2017), Yaa Pono is widely regarded “king of the underground”, and is deemed among the most versatile acts from these parts, expertly blending a range of elements: hiphop, highlife, hip hop, dancehall and Afrobeats.
