Artist manager and Executive Producer of Love and Hip-Hop, Mona Scott-Young is in Ghana as part of the Year of Return trip which has seen Africans in the Diaspora visiting Ghana from the beginning of 2019. Mona, who arrived in Ghana on December 27, 2019, has described her stay in the country as ‘the most amazing 24-hours’.
The former manager of American musicians, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes was at the Versace Collection store at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra for her official ‘Meet and Greet’ session which saw in attendance Actress Yandy Smith together with some Ghanaian personalities.
Speaking to GhanaWeb in an interview, she revealed that a trip to Ghana to experience and enjoy the culture was top of her plans this year. Mona Scott-Young further encouraged Africans in the Diaspora to get on the ground by visiting Ghana and Africa which she described as their original home.
“I have been saying that it is time to come home. There is so much happening around the world, especially in the United States that the feeling that you get from the minute that I crossed the immigration and the immigration officer said “welcome home”, I felt it, it gave me goosebumps”.
Mona Scott-Young who is in Ghana with her family earlier visited the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum as part of their tour in the country. She has described the people of Ghana as very welcoming. According to her, Ghana’s hospitality has influenced her decision to revisit the country.
“There has been something that has been stirred inside me that I encourage everyone not just to do their ancestry but find out where they’re from but get on the ground. There is nothing like this feeling of being here”
“I am ready to eat some real local food and we are going to do more site seeing, we have a whole week of event that is planned ahead of us”.
