Founder of the Ghana DJ Awards Festival and C.E.O of Merqury Republic, Merqury Quaye has once again advised DJs to place value on their craft.
For years, the TV and Radio personality, as well as MC, has encouraged DJs to position themselves well to benefit financially from their profession.
In an interview with DJ Aroma on Pure FM, Merqury Quaye told DJs to stop joking with the profession by performing for free.
‘Those who joke with the profession [must] stop. Some people dey joke with the profession. They are ready to play anywhere for free and charley it is fun for them.’, he bemoaned.
‘Charley you guys this is serious business. I no see Doctor wey e treat somebody wey ebi free before. So stop dey do the free stuff. This is serious business.’, he continued.
Merqury Quaye also praised DJs who are taking the profession serious and projecting the image DJs across the world.
‘DJing is the biggest thing right now….I just want to say a big shouts to all DJs taking this game serious.’, he said.
Since 2012, Merqury Republic has been organizing Africa’s biggest annual DJ Awards Festival dubbed Ghana DJ Awards.
The 2019 Ghana DJ Awards which is expected to happen in September is under the theme ‘Party In Ghana’.
All the biggest DJs on the continent as well as artistes and corporate executives will grace this year’s edition of the awards.
