The trending video of a policeman beating up a lady in a banking hall has dominated news headlines within the last 24 hours. In the video, as reported the woman, a hawker around Okponglo in Accra, was in the banking hall of Midland Savings and Loans to withdraw her ‘susu’ savings.

The woman identified as Patience Sarfo, according to the report, had heard that the bank was facing possible liquidation and so she wanted to take all the money she had saved with them.

However, the financial institution failed to allow her withdraw her money and called on the police officer who was on security duty in the banking hall to drive her away.

The lady, however, persisted and this led to the policeman beating her up mercilessly. The video has generated a lot of interest from Ghanaians with many condemning the police officer, Fredrick Amanor, for his conduct. The latest to add his voice to the matter is Dancehall star, Shatta Wale who has described the policeman's behaviour as 'unacceptable'.

Picking a line from his 'Gringo' track, Shatta said "If you is a man beat a gyal that a bush...THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ."

But interestingly, Shatta Wale's post has rather caused him trouble instead of praise. Many of his followers are questioning why Shatta Wale of all people will have the guts to make such criticism.

It will be recalled that Shatta Wale was accused by Shatta Michy, his baby mama, of abusing her during their acrimonious breakup in April and his followers swiftly reminded him. @sweetsani_ described Shatta Wale in his own words 'bush'.

@eliking2020 pointed it out saying [woman beating] is nothing new.

Others also trolled Shatta Wale over what they deemed as a write up.

Though @osadick142 agredd with Shatta as 'unacceptable'.

@CostyMills thought Shatta should go back to school.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have taken a lady on Facebook to the cleaners over comments she made about the trending video.

The lady, Enyo Nam, had faulted the staff who recorded the video for lacking professionalism. According to her, the staff’s action could lead to the downfall of the financial institution and wondered if Midland Savings and Loans organizes training session for its workers at all.

Enyo Nam wrote: “What’s wrong with staff these days? Everything you’ll take phone and start videoing. Do educate your staff on the DOs and DON’Ts of social media.

Have a social media policy before they run your business down in the name of breaking news! Sorry Midland Savings and Loans. Next time train your staff!” But some have described her as having a mental problem because they do not understand why she could be ‘wicked’ than being compassionate towards the victim.
