Renowned Ghanaian comedian and political pundit, Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), has publicly criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's leadership over failed promises.

In a post on his YouTube handle, KSM expressed his disappointment with the President's unfulfilled promises and the current state of the economy.

KSM highlighted his initial excitement about the President's initiatives, such as "BIG, Believe in Ghana" and "Ghana Beyond Aid," which aimed to transform the country's economy.

However, he lamented that these promises have not been fulfilled.

“I was excited when you proposed BIG, Believe in Ghana, I believed you when you said Ghana Beyond Aid. I believed you were a contender when you said we were in a Guggisberg economy and you wanted to change that.

“For nationalists like me, we were so happy. But Nana Addo dropped the ball. Our expectations were so high. But 8 years later… Everything has gone haywire,” he lamented.

Reflecting on the President's speech in France in 2017, where he spoke against seeking foreign aid, KSM noted that even then French President Emmanuel Macron seemed sceptical.

“Even the then-French President Emmanuel Macron wasn't even paying attention. He looked like he had heard all that and knew you would come back. Did we prove him wrong? No,” he said.

He described the current economic situation, pointing out that the exchange rate has worsened, with one dollar now equivalent to 17 cedis. He questioned why the President has not apologised to Ghanaians for the economic hardships they are facing.

“After all the promises. Look at the economy, a dollar is now 17 cedis. Is there any reason that you haven't said you’re sorry?

“I haven't heard anybody look Ghanaian in the face and say ‘I'm sorry.’

KSM's remarks come as the nation gears up for its general elections on December 7, 2024.

As the date approaches, political campaigns have been intensified with politicians using different strategies to woo the electorates.
