Young Dees Bounces Back With Surprises

Sat, 14 Oct 2006 Source: ghanamusic.com

Last year's hip life entrant, Yong Dees, who aimed at lifting African music to a different level, has promised to bounce back on the music scene, with greater surprises.

This was disclosed to Beatwaves when we ran into the group at its solitary Ashaiman.

The trio, made of three individual artistes, Joseph K Konadu, aka Nfuturo, a taxi driver from Ashanti Akim, Aslaru M. sherrif, aka seaman, who hails from Northern Ghana, and Jonas Cabutey, aka Cigger, an indigenous Ga, and businessman.

The group hinted Beatwaves, ?our next album is on fire. It is still cooking. When it finished cooking, it would be a surprise to all Ghanaians, and our fans out there?. Young Dees? new album, as it said, is likely to inundate the market and the airwaves, early next year.

However, declining to state the album?s possible title, the members disclosed they were doing all these for recording purposes, since the course recording title could be changed.

Songs of the trio lately, have besieged the airwaves and many music fans believed this is Yong Dees? sound opportunity of accomplishment.

Many who have watched the members of the group perform live, could vouch how crowds of music lovers, especially women, react merrily to its songs.

The group has, at the moment, one album to its credit, with the title, Edjuma Den, literally meaning, hard-work. It has eight tracks on cassette, and 14 on CD.

Its title-track, Obaahema, which talks about the tropical Ghanaian woman, who cares about her man, more than herself, has been equipped with more of hip life rhythms.

Sentiki, which had a major airplay, is a track, brilliantly engineered by Jay Q, and featuring Screwface. If your partner had jilted you after a misunderstanding, then you stand a greater chance of understanding this track, better.

Talking about women who use black magic to influence their men, the third track, Nduro, stands out. There are also interesting songs as Kweku Mensah, Odabeebi, Freda, and Agata, among others, on the album.

The group has, however, advised Ghanaians to wait patiently for its next project, which has good and true African musical flavours, to meet the taste of all and sundry.
