Actress Yvonne Nelson was named as one of Africa's 'top 50 trailblazers' by The Africa Report magazine. The list contains people who, according to the Paris-based magazine, are 'pioneers who will lead us to the Africa of tomorrow.'

Nelson was chosen because of her role in the Dumsor protest. "In a country where most celebrities avoid straddling the line between showbiz and politics, the Ghanaian actress most recently caught the attention of the public and political elite when she co-launched a protest march -with celeb colleagues Lydia Forson and Sarkodie- against the power crisis in the country," The Africa Report writes.

Other famous African put in the spotlight by the magazine include Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba, South African politician Julius Malema and Nigeria's richest man Aliko Dangote.

The other two Ghanaians in the top-50 are writer/filmmaker Nana Oforiatta-Ayim and preacher Mensa Otabil.
