Yvonne Nelson can pass for the only Ghanaian actress who has generated the most controversy in the year 2010 on issues concerning her love life and career.
Though she has denied five different male celebrities she is reported to have dated, Yvonne has worsened the speculation by contradicting herself on whether she is currently dating or not.
Though she confessed on KSM’s show that one Michael was the man in her life, Yvonne says she was only joking and the Michael she was referring to was the late Michael Jackson.
Speaking on ETV’s Late Night Celebrity Show last Wednesday, Yvonne Nelson gave two different answers on whether or not she was dating. When first asked the question, her answer was a straight ‘NO’. As the program continued, she said she was dating an unnamed ‘handsome tall guy’. Then she changed her answer and denied being in a relationship when she was asked to give some information on the guy she claims to be dating.
This is not the first time Yvonne is generating controversy about her relationship status. Earlier this year, reports were that she was in a love relationship with soccer hero Derrick Boateng.
Just when Ghanaians started to accept the news as a truism, Yvonne made a u-turn, claiming she and the footballer were just close friends and that there was nothing erotic between them.
Then the name of musician cum TV show host Jon Germain popped up. Jon was reported to have confirmed that indeed he had something to do with Yvonne and once again, she denied having anything to do with Jon. To date, it is not certain which one of the m should be believed. Yvonne again told Ghanaians last Wednesday that it was not true she and ace musician Sarkodie were dating. She said the only thing she had in common with Sarkodie was that he helped her in her campaign to raise funds to create awareness on Glaucoma.
The same Yvonne has also denied dating Samini and the whole episode raises doubts as to why she has been linked to so many guys. Never before has a single Ghanaian actress been reported to have dated a footballer and three musicians, yet she says they are all ‘rubbish’ even when one of the musicians has come out to say the reports are true.
