A top Ivorian Mapouka group, the Zaiko Mapouka dancers, will put up a hot show at the Boomerang Club in Accra tonight in appreciation of Ghanaians’ continuous support for the people of Ivory Coast.

The show, according to the management of the club, is also meant to drum home the peace message to all peoples of the continent and also strengthen the bond of friendship between Ghana and Ivory Coast, particularly in the areas of arts and culture.

The loaded weekend activities of the club will be capped with a special Bob Marley Birthday Bash which will be spiced with a night-long screening of some of Bob Marley’s eye-catching live concerts, on a mega digital set.

In another development, the Boomerang Club has announced plans to launch a special programme to promote the use of locally made fabrics, particularly among young women.

A source at the club said that almost all patrons of night clubs and other entertainment programmes wear imported clothes made with fabrics manufactured outside the country “and this is not good enough for our local fabric manufacturers and the economy in general”.

In the light of this the club is holding talks with some wax print companies to launch an elaborate programme to promote local fabrics among the youth. Under the programme people who wear clothes made with locally made fabrics will win handsome prizes.
