What was presumed to be an exciting moment for Joyce Blessing and her fans as she embarked on her first and official project since she signed on to the Zylofon Music Record label turned out to be a disappointment.

The gospel musician was to be led by her managers, Zylofon Music to officially launch the ‘Joyce Blessing Help Me Grow Foundation’ and donate to the Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern region but she was allegedly deserted, leaving her with a colleague gospel musicians, Superintendent (SP) Kofi Sarpong and veteran musician Blind Messiah, who was invited to help give back to his former school.

In an interview on Hitz FM, husband and manager of Joyce Blessing, Dave Joy bemoaned how his artiste was betrayed by Zylofon Music at the eleventh hour.

He revealed that the proposal of the project and a detailed budget of thirty-two thousand Ghana cedis (GHc32,000) was presented to Arnold Asamoah Baidoo (Zylofon Music Communication Director) and Lawrence Asiamah Hanson also known as Bulldog (Head – Artist and Repertoire at Zylofon Music) for their perusal and later confirmed to team Joyce Blessing that the green light had been given.

Downhearted Dave Joy added that on the eve of the foundation launch and donation to the Akropong School for the Blind, the two heads of the Zylofon Music told Joyce Blessing’s team they can no longer support their GHc32,000 budget for the project hence all media invitations and other listed items on the budget were cancelled.

But, Joyce Blessing’s manager concluded that in order to avert the disgrace, he personally funded the whole budget and had the foundation launched successfully without the support of the record label.

“Zylofon Music wasn’t present at the Akropong School for the Blind for the launch though they were the main sponsores. Joyce Blessing’s team drew the budget with Arnold but I’m so sad that Arnold is saying he doesn’t know anything about that. He’s lying to the public… what he’s doing is unfair. If Zylofon Music knew they wouldn’t help with the event, they should have told us earlier not at the last minute. Even on their radio Zylofon FM, they couldn’t wish Joyce Blessing well on her birthday. We wrote sponsorship to organizations to support but Zylofon Music told us to stop but they will take all cost but they neglected us at the last minute to the event. Earlier this year, we wrote a proposal to Bulldog to officially launch and donate to the Akropong School for the Blind and was approved.

“They told us the GH32,000 budget was too much. Arnold and Bulldog were part of those who approved the budget.

“I personally funded the donation to the school.” Dave Joy said on Hitz FM.

Joyce Blessing donated to the Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern region, as part of her birthday celebration on Tuesday, May 15 2018.

Items donated to the school were bags of rice, packs of assorted drinks, washing soaps, detergents and an undisclosed amount.

Reacting to the issue, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, the communication director for Zylofon Music told Hitz Fm, he could not comment extensively on the development, but hastened that Joyce Blessing had “the blessing of the label.”

According him, the event was well advertised on all Zylofon Media platforms.

“Joyce Blessing and Zylofon Music have cordial relationship… There’s no issue whatsoever. As a label we’ve a very flexible contract with all the artistes. Contracts that touch on management, recording, promotion and marketing of their works with regards to music. However, if the artistes are embarking on their private endeavours, the label gives its blessings to whatever private endeavours they’re engaging in. The label gave its blessings to Joyce Blessing.” Arnold told Hitz FM

When asked if there was any Zylofon staff at the event, the communication director replied, “I cannot say because we had equally important event engaging us and once it was her PRIVATE stuff and the label has given her the blessings, it was cool to go. We gave her different supports.”
