Zynnell Zuh, Sandra Don-Arthur, others win big at Make-Up Awards

Actress Zynnell Zuh has beaten showbiz big shots like Nana Ama McBrown, Berla Mundi and Selly Galley to win Ghana’s most glamorous celebrity at the 2018 Ghana Make-Up Awards.

The award ceremony, which was held at the Kempinski Gold Coast in Accra on Saturday night, was part of Ghana the Make-Up & Beauty Week to celebrate excellence in the make-up and beauty industry.

It was attended by a number of stakeholders from across the country and some celebrities.

The most glamorous celebrity category was one of the keenly contested categories just like the make-up artist of the year. The winner of the category must have distinguished herself in make-up artistry throughout 2017 on the red carpet and other events.

Zynnell was adjudged the winner at the award ceremony. Sandra Don-Arthur (alexandrinamakeup), a renowned make-up artist, also left the award ceremony with two major awards – make-up artist of the year award and best editorial make-up artist award.

Other winners include Marfoa Acheampong (touchmakeupartistry), who took best special effect make-up artist; Valerie Lawson (mzl4wson) for best bridal make-up artist, Augustine Osei (barimah_makeup_artistry ) for best celebrity make-up artist and Martina Asante (facemechanicgh) for most promising make-up artist.

Major make-up brand, Evita Joseph, who led nominations with four categories, was awarded Ghanaian-owned brand of the year, while Black Secret (blacksecretmakeup) won make-up product of the year.

The make-up retailer of the year, skincare product of the year, brand of the year and make-up school of the year went to Rozay International Limited (xoxorozay), RandR Luxury ( randrluxury), Maybelline New York (nowthisismakeup) and 2nd Image Hair and Beauty (2ndimage_int) respectively.

Also, make-up blog of the year, make-up vlog of the year, African make-up icon, marketing campaign of the year awards were received by Koteikai Ashie Kotei (akaikotei), Jessica Owusu-Ansah ( jesiscah) and Tara Fela Durotoye, CEO of House Tara International, and Glam’s make-up in that order.

Excellency in make-up photography and excellency in hair styling also went to Joseph Amoateng (phloshop) and Bessy Ben-George (@revupsalongh).

The CEO of 2image, Mrs Boa-Ampomsem, also picked the lifetime achievement awards and honorary an award went to Mrs Faustina Adofo Adjagar, CEO of First Choice Hair & Beauty and Mrs Mame Serwaa Achampong-Kyei, CEO of Juben House of Beauty.

The 2018 Ghana Make-Up Awards was organised by Make-Up Ghana and 2,400 entries were received for the awards.

The award ceremony was attended by personalities like Martha Ankomah, Menaye Donkor, Communications Minister Ursula Owusu and others.

It was hosted by Juliet Ibrahim and Ato Turkson.
