Accra, Oct 31, GNA - Competitors of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008 poems and songs competitions are to make live public performances for public assessment of their products for selection of the overall winners.

Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the LOC in a release copied to the GNA Sports told the short-listed contestants last Saturday at brief meeting.

He said that the competitors will have two days rehearsals before making the public appearance, adding that the motive of the LOC is to afford the contestants to make their work understandable by the public through acting and performing before the public.

Mr Danquah however expressed regret over the dominance of hip-life and burger high life in all the songs which he said threatens the existence of big time band sound bringing the nation's nightlife to a standstill.

He noted that, 93whereas the LOC had expected submission for both poems and songs to dwell on the theme of the tournament the emphasis was on eulogy of Ghana and our footballers alone.

'It would have been lovely if the lyrics had attempted to interest all of Africa to get the football loving public understand that the tournament is not for only the 16 nations that are to compete in the tournament including Ghana but that it is for the entire African continent, hence the global launch'.

He advised the contestants to take advantage of the little time at their disposal to revise their works to be able to put up a good show on the final day. 31 Oct. 06
