It’s $80 A Session

Some female students of the nation’s premier university, university of Ghana, Legon have now turned the ‘On The Run’ amusement centre on the Legon-Madina road into a “red-light, where they operate as prostitutes. Their male counterparts also use the same venue as their meeting for their Advance Fee Fraud (419) activities.

The female students according to The Enquirer undercover investigations, charge between $20 and $80 per one round of sex, and sometimes, charge higher depending on how wealthy their client is. A fixed price of $50 has been pegged for foreigners, especially whites. In order to conceal their identity, most of the students who are into the ‘business’, use pseudonyms, and a number of them use male students as pimps. Out of every $20 the ladies make the pimp is likely to make $5 and usually make over $20 a night.

The paper learnt that there had been series of brawls among the pimps as they always try to outsmart each other to secure ‘customers’ for the ladies. Competition among the ladies is keen that those who could not stay in “business’ at the centre have moved to create a new joint in front of the Legon branch of the Commercial Bank where they are operating briskly. The 419 operators on the other hand lure unsuspecting victims to the centre and dupe them of huge sums of money.

Latest to call pray to the activities of the gang were two South Africans who lost $148,000 when some students allegedly swindled them under the pretext of supplying them with gold. The paper also learnt that there had been a series of gang fights among the students at the centre.A source at the centre told The Enquirer that it had been difficult to identify the students who troop to the place and misbehave because some of them usually park their vehicles meters away from the place.

Others also deny being students of the University when caught in the unholy act. The source said there had been an occasion when two locally manufactured pistols were retrieved from some students. It confirmed that some female students were actually operating as prostitutes but added that they operate right from the Tetteh-Quarshie-Circle to the Atomic Junction.

A night police guard at the Legon Commercial Bank expressed disgust about the situation. He said all manner of people patronize prostitutes. He confirmed that the ladies are always in the company of their pimps for fear of getting arrested. Mr. William Adjetey, an assistant manager of the centre, told the Enquirer when contacted, that the students sometimes engage in nasty incidents when they are drunk. He denied knowledge of the present of the student prostitutes and 419 operatives at the centre.

He said management would not hesitate to hand over to the police those who come to the place and misbehaveMr. Adjetey promised that the centre would not compromise on quality service and security as it was becoming a joint for tourists. In recent times, the University of Ghana has been on the spotlight due to the indecent manner some of the students carry themselves. Not long ago, some Nigerians residing in the country described the female students as being sexually ‘cheap’ because with a place of rice and chicken, they could easily be lured to bed.
