2009 RADIO France International Discovery, Naby Ibrahima Conde will on Saturday, January 30 thrill fans at the Alliance Française in Accra with his brand of music, which has shot him to fame over the past few years.

Born in the Senegalese capital Dakar, his melodic style hinges on reggae and hip-hop that have been effectively tinged with jazz, soul and funk. Naby, who began his musical career in 1996 with a rap group known as Peace and Peace, has enchanted music lovers in several parts of the world.

His very first hits appeared on major compilations of the Senegalese hip-hop scene, which enabled him to participate in the collections of Da Hop; produced and published by Delabel (EMI, France) and released worldwide in 2000.

Since then, he has been involved in multiple collaborations with a wide variety of artistes and groups including Douggytee, Awadi and the group Sikki Sakka ( Hip-Hop), Loan (Electro), Boudhasticks (Reggae), No Water Please (Brass Band) and many others.

Naby has participated in several festivals, including Couleur Café Festival, Festival Noailles, Festival Afrikakeur, Festival Galsène, Riddim 4 Children, Just 4 U, Festival Africa Fete and a host of others in Senegal and some other African countries.

He has also performed in Paris (France) at the Lavoir Moderne and performs solo at the New Morning Club, also in Paris. In 2008, Naby released his first solo album "Dem Naa", which was produced by his own record label Demrek RecordZ. It was recorded live in Dakar and Paris.

Naby has over the years built a dynamic, powerful and highly melodic universe through the creation of an authentic/modern crossover of African music.

Also a composer/songwriter, he gets his inspiration from his daily environment and sings about the obstacles of life in his native Wolof while honouring women with sentimental themes.

The concert, which will be repeated at the Alliance Française in Kumasi on Monday February 1, is being sponsored by Culture France, Radio France International, Alliance Française and the French Embassy in Accra.
