Fête De La Musique @ Alliance Française

bibie Brew The Alliance Française in Accra will on Sunday June 20, turn into a musical groove with six hours of non-stop music by diverse groups for the 2010 edition of ‘Fête de la Musique’ (Music Day).

Artistes lined up for the night, which is expected to be a memorable one, are Bibie Brew, Blakk Rasta, Dzesi Band, Francophone Generation Band, Seun Mure, Balinga & the Feeling Brothers, Nana Yaa and Irene Logan.

With a wealth of experience, following a long sojourn in France, Bibie Brew will delight the ears and eyes of the expected huge crowd with French chansons and pop music that ensured her popularity not only in France, but in other European countries and beyond.

Reggae fans are in for a double show. Popular radio presenter, Blakk Rasta, as well as Nigerian reggae star Seun Muri, will thrill fans with a variety of reggae songs.

The all-female band, Dzesi aka Women of Colour, who have been creating waves in Accra over the past year, will showcase their brand of music which is a curious blend of a variety of rhythms, beats and melodies from different countries.

Balinga and the Feeling Brothers will deliver a mixed bag of compositions from several West African countries, while the Francophone Generation band will dish out a bowl of Francophone music, including soukous, makossa and dombolo.

Soul diva Nana Yaa, who has collaborated with Kojo Antwi a number of times, and R&B star Irene Logan are expected to mesmerize the crowd with soulful music.

Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for Culture, Fête de la Musique is held in more than one hundred countries in Europe, and several countries all over the world. It allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful and peaceful atmosphere.

Fête de la Musique aims at large audiences while working to popularize musical practice for professionals and non-professionals from all social backgrounds.

It also provides an opportunity to communicate and share a very special moment through music. The concert is being sponsored by the Alliance Française and the French Embassy in Accra.
