Agyare & AreGraDah of Black Symbol Black Symbol, a hiplife group based in Australia are out created a new brand of hiplife which they term "Asaase Kashare" (literally meaning underground hiplife). Their new style make them makes them unique to all other hiplife music. Black Symbol is made up of Aregradah, Agyare and Buma.

Aregradah is the lyricist and producer for Black Symbol. He began professionally producing music in year 2000, and has mastered the art as his own working from his music studio on a full-time basis. He also producers music for Hip Hop and RnB artists from Tanzania, Jamaica, Kenya, S.America and other countries who also reside in Australia.

Aregradah dj's in various clubs and venues in Australia, and is a regular at Sydney's
'Club Africa's No.1' Through his passion of music, he has been awarded the Best Rapper and DJ for his performance at a freestyle rap contest in Sydney and has also participated in an event that was sponsored by Universal Music Australia.

Born and raised in Kumasi, Aregradah moved to Australia in 1994. He finished his High School Certificate in Sydney and later went on to study Sound Engineering at SAE private college.

In 1997 He teamed up with Agyare(the writer and lyricist for the group) and things have been massive since then. They collaborate their skills and talents effortlessly, not to mention the strong friendship bond in they hold.

Agyare is Black Symbol's Akan poet, song writer, lyricist and bass guitarist. His love for music started in 1980's when he watched a performance by Kojo Antwi in Accra.

He beganrapping in both Akan and English in 1993 and later got involved in rap competitions in Ghana. He participated in "Rap Alive" which was an event for freestyle rappers. There, Agyare was named "The king of his game" due to the natural rap ability he maintained.

Agyare was born and raised in Kumasi and moved to Australia in 1996, to live with his family. He is currently completing his bachelor's degree in Applied Information Technology at the University of Newcastle whilst he maintains his passion for music, working with Aregradah on Black Symbol. He has been featured on various artists CD's in Australia.

Away from the music scene, Agyare love to play soccer, socialise with friends and family and loves his African food dishes.

Black Symbol was established in 1997 with the ambition to entertain people and keep them informed through music. They have since taken over stages in several private functions, dance clubs and cultural events in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA. Black Symbol has on several occasions performed on stage with a number of internationally recognized artists such as Afro Moses, Kwadjo Ashakan, Samuel Gyamfi, Camielle (R&B star) and many more. They have hit a large number of audiences, received great compliments and won a number of awards at a few music and rap contests.

Musically, Black Symbol is inspired by some great rappers and singers from Ghana and around the world. They carefully combine the excellent style of traditional Ghanaian music with the style from the western world to form a new type of music popularly known as HipLife in Ghana. But they had to step outside the circle, hence they created a new style of HipLife, which they call "Asaase Kasahare". With this style, a greater emphasis is put on the lyrical part of the music rather than the instrumental part. This initiative was taken to make people enjoy not only the beats but also the inspirational messages installed in our music.

Their songs portray the lives of Africans, especially Ghanaians living inside and outside Ghana. The themes of their songs are constructed around issues of love, family, relationship and life in general, and are performed either in formal or comical way.

Black Symbol are about to hit the shores of Ghana. They'll be releasing their album "Abrabo" (Life) which has 12 banging tracks (as well as some hidden suprises). It features various artists, from traditional Akan singers, English rappers and R&B singers.

Expect to see their "music video film clip" to be released on television very, very soon.
