Batman singing Linda The event organisers (1st Royale Company Limited) promised us a good show and true to their words the evening programme at the National Theatre was not only a good show but a successful colorful evening.

Hiplife, Raglife and Highlife "kings" Mad Fish, Batman and George Darko were at hand to make the  night an unforgettable and exciting night to remember. There was another good performance from underground hiplifers known as Drinkables.

Mad Fish raised the level of excitement in the Theatre when he took the floor. He sang "Wone Me Baby" to the delight of the lovely ladies. The next musical interlude saw Drinkables giving us a good account of themselves.

The controversial man of the moment, Batman did two of his popular songs: "Di Wo Line Mu" and the all time favourite song "Linda". The audience could not help it but join him dance. His dancers also backed him well with a nice ?formation dance? and acrobatic display.

The last musical interlude had George Darko coming up on stage to do his hit "Odo Colour". The ladies joined him on stage to do a catwalk whiles he played his guitar. The combination was a delight to watch.

The scouting for the Model of the Universe 2004 participants started in May 22nd where eleven lovely ladies were chosen for the Southern sector and nine lovely ladies chosen for the Northern sector by the judges.

The MCs for the night were no other people than Stacy of Music Music fame and Yaw Sakyi Afari of Choice FM.

The girls were divided into four groups comprising the Naomi Campbell group, Iman group, Oluchi group, Alek Wek group and the Tyra Banks group.

Joycelyn Nketia, Penelope Nti, Ananda Barnor Ogude and Harriet Laryea were in the ?Iman?group. The ?Oluchi? group consisted of Aurelia Afi Ahey, Kelly Aboagyewaa Osei, Yvonne N.A. Darkwa and Lily AKlamanu. Mariam Safiano, Maame Esi Otchere, Genevieve Danso and Faustina Azutigah were in the ?Alek Wek? group. The ?Naomi Campbell? group was made up of Janet Ame Agbeli, Mimi Mensah, Brenda Lekettey and Esaa Elorm Acolatse.

Each of them was made to prove her ability to represent Ghana at the World Finals by taking well calculated rehearsed steps. Nine contestants made their way through to the final round. After a short while, it was now time for the winners to be announced.

It was no doubt that Mimi Mensah was the first choice of the well selected judges and the audience. The first runner up was Janet Ame Agbeli and Esaa Elorm Acolatse took the third place. The winner and the first runner up will represent Ghana at Model of The Universe World whilst the second runner up participates in Miss Tourism World.

The main aim of 1st Royale Company, the franchise holders of Model of the Universe is to make the girls ?Reach For the stars? and also turn them into supermodels who possess international qualities. To 1st Royale Company Limited, I say Ayekoo for a great job well executed!
