From "Awose Me" To "16 Years" - Mzbel

Mzbel is inarguably Ghana’s most prominent female hiplife artiste. She stunt unbelievers with her debut album “Awoso Me” last year, getting nominations in far away places such as London and Italy.

She was nominated for best female artiste of the year for the Ghana Music Awards, UK and Italy. She won the honors in UK and will probably do the same in Italy when it is over.

Mzbel now has a new album titled “16 years”. This time around, she featured artistes like Castro on “16 years” and “Yopoo”, Tic on “Twe Ma Me”, Screw Face on “Yopoo” and “Bra Fiifi”, Jerry Jay on “Sanbra”, Bollie on “Hus B la borro” and Melody on “Mama Sweet”.

Her title track “16 years” addresses the problem of child molestation. Uncle Danny, her producer says that even though it is a song it carries a subliminal message and warning that molesting an under-age youngster is a crime and it is punishable by law.

Her accomplishments as a singer and rapper are extraordinary as she tells us (Ghana Music.com) that she also has a song titled “Mama Sweet” which will appeal to the international market.

Ghana Music.com: Are You happy with the album and the airplay it is receiving?
Mzbel: Very cos this time around, I used hit makers like Jay Q, King Cyrus and Hammer of the Last 2 to complete the album. The album is for my fans for their support and would like to say a big thank you to all of them.

Ghana Music.com: What message do you for the youth?
Mzbel: I want to tell the youth that if they believe that they have the talent to do anything they should make use of it now and someday they will reap the result.

Uncle Danny, producer of Mzbel ended our interview by saying, “Mzbel is touching new grounds with this album. She is multi-talented because she can do jama, hiplife, francophone, etc. You will even get a feel of Calypso on her new album”.

All songs were composed by Mzbel with collaboration from each featured artiste. The album is complete with eight terrific tracks. There is not a dull moment when you listen to this album.
