Sly Collins was born in the Ashanti Kingdom but grew up in Nigeria where he mostly stayed with his mentor, famous Fela. Sly has been singing for 29 year now so you see how crazy he is about music and has proved himself a gifted multi-instrumentalist on the bass guitar.

His early recordings were strongly influenced by Nigeria?s talented 'no nonsense', Fela. "I met Fela in Ghana when he came over to play. I was a big fan of his at that time. So I took his residential address. When I went for my education in Nigeria, I stayed with him and started playing with him.

Sly Collins, masterpiece voice has found him on stage with Fela, Kofi Sammy, Ras Kobina and more, and every where that any big African artiste is found.

Sly Collins warm, friendly manner has helped him win the hearts of the general public in Germany and is now considered one of the most popular African musicians in France. His works is been handled by Sajo GMBH Imports and Exports - 0049620476576. The album is on Ojez label, based in Naija and distributed by Precise Music in Ghana.

One thing about Sly?s album is that he does away with the electronic instrumentation and uses live instruments which favours him a lot.

"Our musicians don't want to learn. Every good musician must know how to play an instrument and that?s what?s reflecting in my music career" says Sly Collins when asked about what he thinks of live music and our Ghanaian musicians. I feel good making natural music again, playing the accordion and other instruments."

His final words were we need peace and unity among us and we should be careful because AIDS is real.

Sly Collins is indeed a singer to be treasured.
