In a dynamic music industry like ours things keep changing as new stars keep surfacing with the discovering of new talents.

Apart from the few creative artistes who are known, most budding musicians tend to lose focus after reigning for a couple of years as they repeat the same beats and styles in their music.

Gladys Owusu, a new gospel artiste, with the support of Elder Duah of Peace FM and Andy Frimpong Manso launched her maiden album, “Onyame Fata Ayeyi” at the True Light Ministries in Accra last Sunday.

The new album, which comprises of 10 songs has danceable tracks like “Onyame fata ayeyi”, meaning God deserves praise, “Whan koraa”, “Otanfo”, “Oman bi woho”, “Let God arise”, Yesu mo”, among others.

All the songs on the album are inspirational.

Hampers containing the CDs and cassettes which were displayed for auction were soon in short supply as they were hustled for.

The first hamper was bought for GH¢250 (¢2.5 million).

Giving a brief history of the new found artiste, Elder Duah disclosed that Gladys Owusu began singing at the age of eight.

According to him, Gladys, who has a powerful voice had performed in many choirs.

“When she turned 25 she thought of coming out with her own album, with the aim of helping change and win to God more souls through singing.”

In an interview with Beatwaves, Gladys Owusu, whose dad is a pastor, said there was no way she could also go out there and preach the word of God.

“My way of also spreading the good news to the world is through singing for others to hear the words in the song and see the greatness of God to mankind.”

She added that with Millicent Danso, Victoria Osei Bonsu, and Stephen Owusu as backing vocalists and Mr Osei as her producer, she could go far in music.

The album was launched with inspiring musical performances by Isaac ‘Showboy’ and Cee, of TV3 mentor I and II respectively, Ampong, Andy Frimpong Manso and the resident church choir.
