Popular music group Keche has recounted that they were arrested by police in Cape Coast after using fake currency as props during a music video shoot.

Speaking in an interview on MX24 on December 11, 2025, the group explained that they had printed the counterfeit notes solely for filming purposes.

However, a passer-by who saw them using the fake money reportedly alerted the police.

According to Keche, officers arrived on the scene and took them into custody for failing to declare the use of the fake currencies beforehand.

“We were using some fake currencies. We printed the money for props. Someone saw us on the road and went to report us at Cape Coast. The police came to arrest us and they said we should have just gone there and declared it,” one of the members narrated.

The duo said they were detained for about half a day and were frightened by the experience.

“They arrested us and kept us behind bars for like half a day. I was crying and Joshua also nearly cried but he was trying to be strong. They said they would take us to court and I was still crying. I got scared and we told them we were just shooting a music video,” they recounted.

They added that they were eventually released after signing some documents.

Following the incident, the team decided to remove the entire scene from the final video.

“An officer asked us to sign some papers and they released us. When we left there, we didn’t take that scene again. I got scared so the energy had dropped. We were told to take that scene off so it didn’t make it to the music video,” they added.
