The much-anticipated 2026 Grammy Awards have sparked widespread discussion across the entertainment industry following a night filled with glitz, glamour, and drama.
Amid the applause and emotional acceptance speeches from award winners, several moments stood out and quickly became topical.
This article highlights three interesting moments that defined the night:
Trevor Noah–Nicki Minaj comment:
During the awards night, seasoned comedian Trevor Noah stunned audiences with his signature jokes.
One joke that has gone viral online was directed at American rapper Nicki Minaj.
In a video shared online, the comedian was seen cracking a joke about how everyone was present at the awards ceremony except the rapper.
Adding to the humour, Trevor noted that the rapper was still at the White House having a moment with President Donald Trump, while imitating the American head of state.

(Imitating Trump) Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest ass. I have it. Everybody's saying it, Nicki. I know they said you, but it's me. Wop wop wop. Look at… pic.twitter.com/HuXx61G8zX
Another moment that stood out during the awards ceremony was a joke Trevor Noah made about Drake, following the rapper’s long-standing feud with Kendrick Lamar.
Trevor Noah noted that he wanted to make a joke about Kendrick; however, upon careful consideration, he feared the rapper would deal with him the same way he dealt with Drake in his “Not Like Us” track.

It appeared Trevor Noah wasn’t done with Donald Trump after linking him to the Nicki Minaj joke, as he once again took a jab at the American president.
Drawing a comparison, Trevor noted that just as every artiste present at the ceremony wanted the “Song of the Year” award, the creative desire was as strong as the US president’s interest in Greenland.

However, Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny won Album of the Year, with Africa’s very own Tyla bagging Best African Music Performance.
