Ghanaian High-Life musician Lucky Mensah says he is willing to discuss business with the opposition NPP over his new controversial song “Nkratuo” if they approach him.
There are speculations that the NPP intend to use the song for their 2012 election campaign since the song suggests that Ghanaian are suffering under President John Evans Atta Mills’ presidency.
Lucky Mensah tells Asempa News that he did not intend the song for politics but “since one key can open many doors if the NPP approaches me I will be prepared to sell the song to them.”
In 2008, Lucky Mensah was one of the leading musicians who composed and recorded a campaign song for the NDC.
He tells Asempa News that he has still not benefited from NDC since, and that he became even more broke after singing for the NDC.
“But since the launch of my new album life has become better,” he said.
Before Lucky Mensah, Jewel Ackah also sung for the NDC and went broke and unpopular thereafter.
But the several musicians, like Daddy Lumba, Kwabena Kwabena, Wutah and others who sung campaign songs for the NPP in 2008 are still up and kicking thereafter, even though NPP is in opposition.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that NPP also intends to use 5Five’s song “Move back” as a campaign song in 2012, particularly the portion where they moan “ao, aje, ao, aje!”
One NPP stalwart, Mike Ocquaye junior suggested during Ekosii sen on Asempa FM, that the moaning sound in 5Five’s song depicts the moans from suffering Ghanaians.
