A group of radio presenters in the Brong Ahafo Region are up in arms with the Extertic and Big Events Ghana for sidelining them when they honored some presenters in the country. The group was speaking to press in an exclusive interview on Friday 28th January after the event.

Spokesperson of the group, Alhaji Tanko of Classic FM in Techiman said instead of concentrating their search for the award in the Accra and Kumasi alone, the event organizers could have roped in other presenters from the rest of the regions.. He said Accra is not synonymous to Ghana since there are equally very fine presenters across the country who could match those in Accra boot for boot.

He suggested that next time around organizers of such events should pick two or three presenters from each region so that at the end of the day no one will have cause to complain that if she or he was selected for the competition, he or she would have won the ultimate prize. Alhaji Tanko who is undoubtedly, one of the best radio presenters in the Brong Ahafo Region also suggested that events of that nature should be done in line with that of the Miss Ghana Award. Where contestants are picked from all the ten regions of Ghana and the finals organized in Accra.

Mr. Emmanuel Quashie alias Hit Man of Adepa FM who spoke with so much bitterness told journalists that most of the presenters in the Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions had their experience in radio in the Brong Ahafo Region before relocating to Accra or Kumasi but when it comes to any award, presenters from Brong Ahafo Region are sidelined. He was of the view that next time if the organizers of such competition really want the best, they should not rely solely on those in Accra and Kumasi because there are presenters in other regions who could beat the so-called best presenters who are holed up in Accra.

A Broadcast Journalist Kofi Doe Lawson, the secretary of the group said the hour has come for event organizers and people in authority to consider other regions and towns when issues of such nature come into being.

He also blamed radio affiliation as one of the cause adding that radio owners not in Accra should have the courage in doing their own programmes than the affiliation thing that has become the order of the day.

He said the Brong Ahafo Region has produced talented presenters like Stone of 100% fame, Nana Adwoa Carson of TV Africa and Kwaku Owusu Adjei formerly of Boss FM in Kumasi meaning the region has the men therefore the need for covering the entire country in such cases.
