Parrot Mouth is a Nigerian content creator and comedian
Nigerian content creator and comedian, Parrot Mouth, has opened up about his difficult relationship with his late father and how it has influenced his determination to succeed in life.
Speaking in a recent interview on GTV, Parrot Mouth said his background has pushed him to work extremely hard because failure is not an option for him.
“Where I’m coming from, it’s a crime to fail. My father has failed. I’m not proud of my father because of certain things. He wasn’t a CEO, but I want to be a CEO. I want my kids to know that their father has done well,” he said.
According to him, the fear of returning to the difficult life he came from motivates him to constantly work and try new opportunities.
“I don’t want to repeat the mistake my father made. If I fail, I’m going to the street and I’m scared of going back to where I’m coming from. Every day for me is work. I’m always trying new things. I want to make it in life,” he stated.
Parrot Mouth also revealed that whenever he earns money, he gives what he describes as his “tithe” to his mother, although he believes that would change if he gets married.
“Whenever I get money, I pay my tithe to my mother, but if I get married today, I will be paying tithe to my wife,” he shared.
He noted that even if his father were still alive, he would not have given him the same support.

“My dad is late, but even if he’s alive, I would never pay my tithe to him. He doesn’t carry grace; if he had grace, he would have made it,” he said.
However, the comedian admitted that he only realised the importance of his father after his death.
“I didn’t know the value of my father till I lost him. I never knew he was that important to me until I had a call that he’s dead,” he noted.
He further disclosed that the financial contributions people made during his father’s funeral surprised him and made him reflect on his father’s impact.
“A week to the funeral, I marveled at the kind of money people contributed to me. I asked myself if my father was this important to me and I didn’t know. He should have died a long time ago because at that time, the dollar was high.
“If I had the chance to kill my father again and rebury him, I would do it. I made a lot of money to the extent that when we were going round him at the funeral, I gave him a thumbs up. I nearly shouted `eye zu’,” he hilariously said.
Parrot Mouth also mentioned that several people supported him financially during that period, including Ghanaian gospel musician Joe Mettle.
“My mother was angry and she said I just came from Ghana, so people would say I was the one who killed my father. As we were talking, Joe Mettle sent money and when I showed the alert to my mother, she shouted `Praise the Lord’,” he added.
