Azigiza Jnr believes people should rather devote that time to their jobs
The practice of organising church services during weekdays has been questioned by Rev Victor Kpakpo Jnr, popularly known as Azigiza Jnr, who believes people should rather devote that time to their jobs.
Speaking on TV3’s Showbiz 360 on March 6, 2026, he said he does not support the idea of keeping church members in prolonged prayer sessions during working days.
His statement came during a discussion with actress and musician Ivy Adjimah, who was asked what she would change about Ghana if she had the power to do so for a day.
In response, Ivy said she would like to see a shift in mindset from what she described as excessive spirituality toward a more balanced outlook that also prioritises scientific thinking and practical problem-solving.

“If I had the power to change something, I would love a great mindset change from too much spiritualism. We should be more focused on working and trying to solve problems scientifically, and not only spiritually,” she said.
Azigiza Jnr agreed that spirituality has its place but stressed that people should not neglect their work because of church activities.
“Unfortunately, quote me anywhere, I am a pastor, but I believe on Monday you should go to work, on Tuesday you should go to work, on Wednesday go to work,” he said.
He added that he does not support pastors keeping their members in church during the work week for long prayer sessions.
“Why should you keep your members in church and be praying? That one, I do not subscribe to that one,” he added.
