Sefa is a popular Ghanaian singer
Ghanaian singer Sefa has called for increased support and recognition for female artistes in the music industry.
Speaking in an interview on United Showbiz on March 15, 2026, Sefa acknowledged some improvement in industry support but stressed that more needs to be done to elevate women in music.
“Now the support in the industry is okay as compared to before. I think there’s more we can do as an industry because my sisters in the industry are all doing amazing so if the light is thrown on us more, we will be able to achieve more,” she said.
According to her, while both male and female artistes are making significant strides, the spotlight tends to favour male acts more.
“Just as much as they’re throwing more light on the male artistes, I think we can do better. Both men and women in the industry are doing amazing,” she stated.

Sefa highlighted a recent concert hosted by Wendy Shay as an example, stating that it did not receive the level of attention it deserved.
“Wendy Shay hosted a show at Weija last year and it was incredible, but I didn’t hear people talking about it as much as they would if it were a male artiste,” she shared.
She further urged stakeholders and fans alike to consciously promote and celebrate female talents within the country instead of waiting for international recognition.
“If we can help each other, it will be great because we can’t let people from other places praise us while we can’t praise ourselves,” she noted.
Sefa added, “We are always discussing the achievements of the male artistes, but how about the women? We should also be able to appreciate our own.”
