Ghanaian musician, Rocky Dawuni, has reflected on how the diplomatic passport he received from the Government of Ghana six months ago influences his work and international engagements.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on March 20, 2026, Rocky Dawuni pointed to the practical benefits of the recognition, especially in making travel easier and enhancing his global reach.

“A lot of times, you do things not with the intention of it coming back to you. But when you’ve done it for so many years and, at some point, your country recognizes your effort, there’s a sense of gratitude.

“It’s facilitated a lot of things in terms of travels. It’s really helped me in doing the work that I do. So I’m honored by it,” Rocky Dawuni noted.

Ibrahim Mahama, Wode Maya, Dentaa, others receive diplomatic passports

In September 2025, the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, presented diplomatic passports to five creative individuals in recognition of their role in promoting Ghanaian culture and excellence globally.

The move points to Ghana’s effort to use arts and culture as tools of soft power, positioning creatives like Dawuni as representatives of the country’s identity and values on the global stage.
