Ahead of the 2024 general election, Stonebwoy’s hit song Jejereje was adopted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a campaign anthem. According to the musician, this decision strained his relationship with the record label he was working with at the time.

In an interview with Angel FM on March 25, 2026, the BHIM Nation President explained that foreign stakeholders on the label believed he had accepted money from the NDC and intentionally recorded Jejereje for the party, based on the narrative circulating then.

Stonebwoy noted that because of how principled the foreign partners were, they even expected him and his local team to issue a press statement to counter the claims.

'Jejereje' helped the NDC win power in 2024 - Stonebwoy claims

“While working with foreign people on a record label I was working with at the time, our relationship became strained because they believed I, along with the local team, had taken money from a political party. They thought I recorded Jejereje for the NDC on purpose. I lost a lot because that song was used politically.

“They expected a press statement if it wasn’t true, because the narrative out there was that I had aligned myself with the NDC,” Stonebwoy said.

He also addressed the NDC’s decision to remove him from the party’s victory concert, held on January 5, 2025, after he had initially been billed as a headline performer.

According to Stonebwoy, he was dropped due to perceptions among some NDC grassroot members that he was affiliated with the New Patriotic Party.

He further emphasised that in such moments, both political parties should be able to unite when a new government is formed.

“When a government comes, political parties, NDC and NPP have to come together as one. But just a few hours later, I was dropped from an event because people thought I was affiliated with the NPP,” he stated.
